Fast, Accurate X-Ray Imaging
at RAVE Sarasota
At RAVE Sarasota, we use digital radiography — not old-school film. Digital X-ray produces sharper images with lower radiation exposure, and results are available immediately. Your physician can access the images and radiologist report through their portal right away.
Walk-ins are welcome for X-ray during business hours. No appointment needed. Come in, check in at the front desk, and you’ll typically be seen within minutes.

What to Expect During Your
X-Ray at RAVE Sarasota
Before Your Appointment
- No preparation needed for most X-rays. Just come in
- Wear comfortable clothing without metal — zips, underwires, and thick buttons appear on images
- Remove jewellery from the area being scanned
- If pregnant or possibly pregnant, let us know before your scan
- Bring your physician order if you have one
During Your X-Ray
Our technologist positions you in front of or on the X-ray equipment — standing, sitting, or lying depending on what’s being imaged. You hold still for one to two seconds while each image is captured. Most X-ray appointments are 15-20 minutes from check-in to exit. We use lead shielding for areas not being imaged.
After Your X-Ray
Leave immediately. No recovery needed, no activity restrictions. Images go to our radiologists and a report is sent to your physician — typically within a few hours for straightforward studies. Images and report available through our patient portal.
Common Questions About
X-Ray in Sarasota
“Do I need an appointment for an X-ray at RAVE Sarasota?”
No. Walk-ins are welcome during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Come in, check in at the front desk, and you’ll be seen as quickly as possible.
“Do I need a doctor’s referral for an X-ray?”
Most X-rays require a physician’s order. If your primary care doctor, urgent care, or specialist referred you, bring that order. Unsure? Call 941-488-7781 and we’ll work out the fastest path forward.
Very little. A standard chest X-ray delivers roughly 0.1 millisieverts — about 10 days of normal background radiation. Digital radiography requires even less radiation than older film systems while producing better image quality.
“Is X-ray safe during pregnancy?”
In most cases, a single X-ray with appropriate abdominal shielding poses negligible risk. If you’re pregnant, always let us know beforehand. We follow strict radiation protection protocols and will discuss whether the study should proceed or wait.
“When would I need an MRI or CT instead of X-ray?”
X-ray is best for bone imaging and quick overview studies. It doesn’t show soft tissues well — muscles, tendons, cartilage, nerves, and organs are largely invisible on X-ray. If your doctor suspects a soft tissue injury or needs cross-sectional organ detail, they’ll order MRI or CT.
