Common Questions About
Ultrasound in Sarasota
“Is ultrasound safe?”
Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation. No ionising radiation involved. Considered the safest form of diagnostic imaging and used routinely throughout pregnancy. No known harmful effects at the frequencies used in medical imaging.
“Do I need a referral for an ultrasound in Sarasota?”
Most diagnostic ultrasound studies require a physician’s order. If your doctor has already referred you, just bring the order. Unsure? Call 941-488-7781 and we’ll sort it out quickly.
Your sonographer sees the images in real time but doesn’t interpret them — that’s the radiologist’s role. Full report to your doctor within 24 hours. Urgent findings communicated same day.
“I was told I need a Doppler study. What is that?”
Doppler measures blood flow direction and speed. Added to standard ultrasound when your doctor needs to evaluate blood vessels — looking for clots, narrowing, or abnormal flow. No different preparation needed from regular ultrasound.
