RAVE Offers 3T Prostate MRI and PSMA PET Scans
Both exams are performed at RAVE Venice, 201 Palermo Pl, Venice, FL 34285. A physician referral is required.
Prostate MRI
MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging, is a noninvasive test that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to generate detailed images of the body. A prostate MRI provides detailed images of the prostate and surrounding tissues. For this reason, it is often used to diagnose, evaluate and monitor prostate cancer and its treatment.
RAVE performs prostate MRI on a 3T wide-bore MRI. The exam uses no radiation and no endorectal coil. Prostate MRI at RAVE
PSMA PET Scan
PSMA (prostate specific membrane antigen) is a protein that is abundant on the surface of prostate cancer cells. PSMA can also be found on cancer cells that have spread to other parts of the body, such as lymph nodes or bones.
A PSMA PET scan uses an imaging tracer to target the PSMA protein on cancer cells throughout the body and lights up these proteins on the PET images. A PSMA PET scan can detect prostate cancer when PSA levels are low and tumors are small, or when conventional imaging (CT, MRI, bone scan) results are uncertain. ILLUCCIX is also approved to help determine a patient’s eligibility for PSMA-directed radioligand therapy. PET Scan at RAVE
