Interventional Radiology Services

Interventional Radiology is a subspecialtly of radiology in which minimally invasive procedures are performed using imaging guidance. Some of these procedures are done for purely diagnostic purposes, while others are done for treatment purposes. Pictures are used to direct these procedures, which are usually done with needles or other tiny instruments like small tubes called catheters. The images provide road maps that allow the Interventional Radiologist to guide these instruments through the body to the areas of interest.

Meet Our Team of Interventional Radiologists

Interventional Radiology is done with a team of professionals.  In addition to interventional radiologists, the IR team includes licensed Radiologic Technologists and Registered Nurses. Each member of the team has specialized training in interventional procedures and advanced nursing care. We continually adopt the latest technology and master new techniques in order to better serve our patients and provide them with the utmost care available in the field

Advantages of Interventional Radiology

  • Procedures require no large incisions; they are usually performed through a small nick the size of the lead tip of a pencil.
  • Since there is no open surgery, there are no large scars following the procedures.
  • Most procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis.
  • Patients rarely require general anesthesia, typically moderate sedation is utilized.
  • Risk, pain, and recovery time are often significantly reduced.
  • The procedures are sometimes less expensive than surgery or other alternatives
